For many meetings there have been discussions and updates on the Department of Professional and Occupations Regulation (DPOR) Continuing Education Provider Application by VAESA. In continuation of keeping you informed, I have attached three documents to this email.
The first is the Virginia Elevator Safety Association position paper concerning our recent application process and views.
The second is the DPOR Board of Contractors Committee minutes.
The third is the current Approved Elevator Mechanic Continuing Education Provider List by DPOR.
If you have questions concerning the DPOR decision (DPOR rejecting VAESA application) and policy, it is suggested that you contact the following DPOR Committee individuals present at the time of the ruling:
Baily Dowdy
Doug Murrow
Michael Gelardi
D. Todd Vander Pol
Chancey Walker
In the meantime, for those who want DPOR credit, you can use VAESA certificates when they list NAEC hours. It is recommended that you highlight NAEC on the certificate and include the attached Provider List
with NAEC also highlighted.
While not every VAESA meeting may have NAEC continuing education approval due to specific content, many of our meetings do get NAEC approval. For many reasons, VAESA will continue to submit to NAEC for continuing education credit whenever possible.
